Mackenzie and I had the BEST time in Atlanta. We arrived early so we walked around and discovered a great breakfast place. Then we did a cable car tour of the city and stopped at the MLK reflection pond. After we checked into the hotel, we walked to “slutty vegan” for dinner, which was on & across Georgia Tech campus, so we looked up their schedule and they had a volleyball game that evening. Mackenzie spoke to one of the coaches and they let us in.
Saturday we walked to Ponce Market had brunch on the rooftop and did some shopping. We discovered the belt line and rode scooters all around that and Piedmont park back to our hotel to get ready for our concert. ATLIVE with Little Big Town, Willie Nelson, Carrie Underwood and George Strait. Had to try Waffle House that evening and we saw a pedicab with a boombox so we took it back to the hotel. Good thing dinner was cheap because it was $80. Fun but a rip off! We could have ubered for $20.
Sunday was Mackenzie’s actual birthday and we started the day at brunch at STK which was wonderful. We went to another volleyball game afterwards to see Georgia Tech play the N Carolina Tarheels and they won again. Then we walked about 2 miles just checking things out. They had all of Peachtree (the main one) shut down so people could walk bike and scooter down the road and it was a huge community event with tents, arts & crafts and live music. We ended the night at a Vegan ice cream shop with such yummy flavors and ate so much it made us sick.
I love one on one time with my kids and Mackenzie loves to travel and explore like I do. Happy Sweet 16 to my love!
